Our Projects:

Read more below, about our 7 main projects. Help us spread the word and help us make the world a better place. Share our posts and environmental info with your friends and family members. Try to do one small thing every day to save the planet, and create a better world for both humans and animals.

Project 1.

Encourage your family members and friends to help make the world a better place to live for all. Remember to be pleasant, kind and helpful to all those you meet. And when you can, lend a helping hand to brighten someone's day. There are simple things you can do daily that can have a positive effect on someone or the world at large. Why not surprise a friend or colleague and take them out to lunch, help a homeless person get medical attention or get a sustainable job. Help a blind person cross the street, donate your used clothes or donate foodstuff to a needy family. Adopt a pet or help save an endangered animal. Smile to a stranger and wish them a wonderful day. One simple act of kindness, can have a profound effect on a person and cause a positive ripple effect in the world, leading to a more peaceful and joyful world.

Project 2.

Rising global temperatures (due to increasing levels of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide in the atmosphere), is resulting in significant changes in weather and climate; an occurrence which is known as climate change. Projected impacts of climate change include drought, higher temperatures, coral bleaching and sea level rise. Our human activities such as power generation, gas releases from landfills and cattle farming, vehicular emissions, deforestation and energy production from the combustion of fossil fuels, have upset the balance of stable levels of greenhouse gases. We can combat the impacts of climate change by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. Governments/Leaders can also help by implementing a National Climate Change Policy, mainstreaming Climate Change into National Development and introducing carbon reduction strategies for the transport, power generation and industry sectors.

Project 3.

If you can , try to grow food in your backyard garden. We have to work together now, to promote and sustain food security for the global population. Encourage your family members, friends, neighbors and colleagues to start their own backyard/kitchen gardens now. There are many benefits of growing your own food. It not only supplements your household food supply, but it helps you save money. Locally grown food is also fresh, healthier and easily accessible to you. You can also choose to grow the foods you like the most in your garden. Working in the garden can help reduce stress and help you to relax. Working in the garden also gives you added exercise. Tending a garden can greatly benefit the chronically depressed as well as the elderly. Start growing fruits, vegetables and herbs in your garden now.

Project 4.

Get into the habit of making to-do lists. Organizing your errands into one efficient trip will save you gas, time and money. Always try to make smarter energy choices for sustainability and energy efficiency. Turn off your electronic units (e.g TV, video game, DVD player) when not in use, and turn off your computer and air-condition unit when leaving your home or office. Even the sleep mode on your computer can reduce energy use by 60 to 70 %. Look out for the 'ENERGY STAR LOGO' on products such as appliances, as the Energy Star standard can save families about one third on their energy bill, with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions. You can even rediscover your microwave. Microwaves are between three and five times more energy efficient than traditional electric ovens. Plus, cooking and reheating with a microwave is faster than a stove top or oven. Also use more energy efficient bulbs, because they use less than half the energy and last up to eight times longer than regular bulbs. You can also do car-pooling with friends and neighbors to reduce carbon emissions.

Project 5.

Do not abuse the land. Do not cut down trees unnecessarily, as trees provide food for many animals, as well as comprise their habitats as well. Be careful not to start bush fires also, because apart from destroying trees and doing damage to the soil, fires can also kill humans and animals, and destroy homes for humans and animals too. Help preserve endangered animals by caring for the forests, planting more trees when you can, and you can even start your own campaigns by writing to your own local councillor or local government representative to help save the forests and animals in your country. Encourage your friends to do the same. Be a voice for the voiceless, show appreciation for nature and animals, and help save all endangered animals and our forests too.

Project 6.

Businesses can contribute by doing their part to help their community. The corporate sector can help by donating money, or trees and flowers for building nice relaxing parks for members of the public. Parks, gardens and green space in urban areas can improve the well-being and quality of life of people living there, says a University study done some time ago. Researchers found that living in a greener area had a significant positive effect and even 94% of people who took part in outdoors 'green exercise,' said it benefited their mental health and can have huge impacts on physical benefits. For people living busy lifestyles in densely populated areas, being able to get outdoors and access green space is a great way to escape the stresses of day-to-day life. Governments/Leaders should implement plans to build more relaxing parks for many communities in their respective countries.

Project 7.

You should try to be ready for any emergency. It is important to note, that you should not build or purchase homes in low-lying areas prone to flooding. It is also unwise to build homes on high steep slopes, as they are more prone to cracks and damage because of land slips or landslides. People with very flat homes or homes built in very low-lying areas, should have all their doors (entrances and exits) fitted with flood guards and store large tarpaulins also. Every home and business should always have a waterproof emergency bag with emergency phone numbers to call, a good first aid kit and also ready-to-eat canned foodstuff and bottled water, to last at least a week (number dependent on amount of family members or employees in the building). Always keep a battery-operated radio and lanterns with extra batteries too. Preferably to keep indoors when there is very bad weather and it is a good idea to listen to your radio regularly for important emergency bulletins and weather updates. Lastly, always store your important documents (e.g. birth papers, id cards, credit cards, wills, deeds, mortgage or insurance information) in waterproof cases, to protect them in the event of a bad storm or hurricane.
