Mouth Care

MOUTH CARE for HEALTHY TEETH:

Everyone does not and cannot have a set of perfect gleaming teeth. Most of us though, can maintain a good set of useful teeth. This would save us a great deal of pain and awkwardness, if we give a few minutes every day to dental care.

Remember, it is important to change your toothbrush every 3 months, to maintain healthy teeth and gums, and prevent bacterial infection. Clean your teeth properly at least twice a day (morning and night). At night brush them for about 3 minutes and follow it up with a good mouth wash.

Prevention of plaque formation is necessary. You may be cleaning your teeth daily, but probably not adequately. Plaque is a sticky film which adheres to the surface of your teeth, every day. This is due to the bacteria present in your mouth, which attacks the teeth and gums. Gently massage the gums daily with your fingers. The amount of plaque deposition is also dependent upon the type of food you consume. Plaque can result in both gum disease and caries if not treated regularly. For example chocolates and other sugary foods is a major cause of tooth decay. Plaque formation is also dependent upon the frequency of sugary foods eaten, and immediate cleaning of your teeth. It is important to rinse your mouth with water every time you drink sodas, beverages or eat something. It is also a good idea whilst travelling, to keep toothpicks to remove food particles, after eating. This can be kept in your car or handbag as well.

Dental decay also called caries, is the most common disease of the teeth. It occurs when the enamel protecting the teeth is eaten by strong acids produced in the mouth. As a result, a hole is made in the tooth. When the exposed area becomes closer to the nerve, then a pain is felt. One reason can be excessive intake of sugary foods. Gums are the supporting structures of the teeth. Bacteria attack this area and gum disease (periodontitis) results. It is often painless till the disease reaches a late stage. The signs of the disease are bleeding gums, bad breath and loose teeth which are often ignored. Eventually, abscesses can occur, causing pain, and teeth may have to be extracted.

A smile helps you go a long mile. The skin on the lips is delicate and that area is the gateway of your mouth. Lips have no sweat glands, and their moisturizing and protection is only through saliva. During cold weather one should protect them from cracking. Use a good lip balm, vaseline or you can apply glycerine. When it is very hot, a sunscreen stick with a high sun protection factor (SPF) can be used. Drink plenty of water to cool and re-hydrate the body. Do not keep licking your lips because your lips will crack more.

Clean, healthy teeth and a good diet are the foundation of a fresh, sweet breath. Plenty of natural foods like fruits and salads should be part of your meals. For a quick fresh breath, you can chew mint (pudina), parsley or have grains of aniseed. Toothpastes that contain neem are also very good to use, as neem is antibacterial and helps fight germs, prevents cavities, bleeding gums and inflammation. VICCO VAJRADANTI HERBAL TOOTHPASTE & VICCO VAJRADANTI HERBAL TOOTHPOWDER are also very good as they strengthen teeth and gums, are ideal for sensitive teeth, keep teeth clean and breath fresh all day. The Vicco Vajradanti Herbal Toothpowder restores mobile teeth to normalcy, removes stains and plaque and also helps with toothaches, cleans and heals mouth wounds too. Use the Vicco Vajradanti Herbal Toothpowder 2-3 times a week to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Do you know that sugar cane juice can also help with mouth care? Sugar cane juice (raw juice from the sugar cane plant) is very rich in minerals, which help to prevent tooth decay and bad breath. So you should try to drink sugar cane juice more regularly, for a fresh breath and healthy teeth. Don't drink the sugar cane juice if it has been outside the fridge for more than 15 minutes, as it may have adverse effects on your stomach. Also, do not take more than 2 glasses of sugar cane juice daily.
